Amber Shirley, DO

Amber Shirley, DO, is a PGY-1/Transitional Year Resident at Baptist Memorial Hospital - DeSoto and will be starting Neurology residency at University of Tennessee Health Science Center next year. She is looking forward to a career in Neurology and interested in potentially sub specializing. 

During her medical school years at Lincoln Memorial University DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine, she realized her passion for healthcare policy and advocacy which has led her to leadership and involvement in Omega Beta Iota, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Medical Association, and the Tennessee Medical Association. She is excited to continue this involvement as the inaugural Osteopathic Scholar Advocacy Certification Program (OSAC) Resident Coordinator for Omega Beta Iota, a healthcare advocacy fellowship for Osteopathic medical students she co-founded, as she was inspired to create more opportunities for outstanding student advocates to develop their advocacy skills and build their career. Her specific advocacy interests include access to healthcare, medical education, and environmental health and education. Additionally, she has recently been accepted to the American Osteopathic Association’s Training in Policy Studies (TIPS) fellowship for residents to gain experience in healthcare policy.

Outside of medicine, she is passionate about hiking, the outdoors, and crochet, and she is ecstatic to check out the Memphis food and music scene these next few years!
