Program Overview

The Family Medicine Residency Program at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Desoto, is a collaboration between Baptist Memorial Health Care and Northeast Mississippi Health Care.  Our program is an urban program dedicated to creating outstanding family physicians who commit to providing care to patients and families from all walks of life. Our residency will have a mix of urban and rural experiences due to its unique location in northwest corner of Mississippi. We take pride in our responsibility to bring expertise, compassion, and a deep understanding of social determinants of health to engage patients, provide exceptional care, and ensure well-being for residents in our five county service area. The Family Medicine Residency Program at Baptist Desoto offers residents the opportunity to be a part of a family focused learning experience at a large tertiary hospital serving the Mid-South region.

As an ACGME accredited program, we have designed a unique curriculum that prepares new physicians to empower families and heal communities. All of our residents will get to take part in a unique continuity clinic experience throughout their residency.  Residents will also have the opportunity to learn to migrate care in the Baptist Primary Care Clinic, which caters primarily to the insured population, as well as in the Desoto Health Care Clinic, where they will gain experience providing care for the underserved and under insured.  The program will consist of 13 – four week rotational blocks and residents will be required to complete the following set curriculum prior to graduation:
