Chinyere Oparaji, MD

Greetings! I was born in Michigan but have lived all around America, so I call many places home. I am very passionate about patient education and advocacy for those in underserved communities who are often overlooked. After graduating from Arizona State University as a Preprofessional Health Science major, I worked in various jobs but always had my heart set on a career in medicine. My excitement of starting medical school at Ross University School of Medicine was complicated by a small virus that made a big appearance in 2020, better known as COVID-19. However, I embraced the challenge and became part of the first cohort to attend medical school in their living room until I was able to move to the beautiful island of Barbados. After finishing my last two years in the States, it was an honor to match at Baptist for my Transitional Year and IU for Anesthesia Years, as both were my first-choice picks! Aside from medicine, I love traveling, volunteering, watching live performances of various art forms, and hanging with my 5 siblings. I am honored to spend this next year of life completing my first year of training at Baptist Desoto with such an amazing team of dedicated and diverse physicians.
