Hany Awad, MD

I was born and raised in Canada, and began pursuing my medical journey at a young age. As someone raised in a Muslim household, education was always a top priority, with the broader goal of being in the service of others.

I chose medicine as it was ultimately a challenging and complex endeavor that allowed me to exercise a sense of self-improvement and interpersonal development. Later, I completed a Master's degree in Public Health, specializing in preventative medicine. I find that public health experience is the perfect complement to a career in family medicine, as prevention is one of the most effective ways to promote individual wellness, and the health of communities at large. I aim to incorporate what I've learned in medicine and public health to increase awareness of common, debilitating conditions over the course of my career, and develop innovative solutions to improve upon current methods of medical management.

Aside from healthcare, I enjoy learning technical subjects, like engineering and design. I believe that they have a profound impact on our world, and I appreciate the creative element  in them.

As a physician, I aim to adopt an interdisciplinary role, deeply exploring the connections between healthcare, engineering and technology. Through this, I hope to develop future solutions to tackle some of healthcare’s most complex challenges.
