Mqhele Ncube, MD
I was born and raised in Zimbabwe, where from an early age I developed a strong desire to become a physician and serve those in need. Growing up, I witnessed firsthand the challenges many communities faced in accessing quality healthcare, and I knew I wanted to dedicate my life to bridging that gap.
My path, however, did not follow a straight line. After moving to the United States, I had the unique opportunity to pursue a career in drug discovery and development as a medicinal chemist. This work allowed me to contribute to the advancement of medicine from the laboratory side, and I am grateful for the chance it gave me to play a role in shaping therapies that improve lives. Yet, even during this time, my heart continued to pull me back toward my original dream—becoming a physician who could directly care for patients, particularly in underserved communities.
Today, I am blessed to be living that dream. Every day in medicine brings me closer to the purpose I envisioned as a young boy in Zimbabwe: to provide compassionate, patient-centered care and ensure that access to healthcare is not a privilege but a right. My experiences—both in science and in medicine—have shaped me into a physician who values innovation, resilience, and service to others.
Outside of my professional life, I cherish time with my wife and kids, who are my greatest source of joy and motivation. I love cooking, experimenting with flavors and recipes that often bring together the richness of my Zimbabwean heritage and global influences. Soccer remains a lifelong passion, keeping me active and connected to the sport that shaped so much of my youth. I also enjoy exploring investment opportunities, seeing them as ways not only to build a future for my family but also to create avenues to reinvest in communities and causes close to my heart.
At the core of everything I do—whether in medicine, family, or personal pursuits—lies the commitment to give back. My journey has been defined by perseverance, faith, and an unwavering belief in the power of service, and I continue to strive to honor those values every day.
