Sai Krishna Vallamchetla, MD
My medical training in India fostered a strong commitment to compassionate, evidence-based care and instilled in me a deep appreciation for lifelong learning from patients, colleagues, and the broader medical community.
Prior to residency, I worked as a Research Fellow in the Department of Neurology at Mayo Clinic Florida, where I had the opportunity to explore questions at the intersection of clinical medicine, neuroimaging, and emerging technology. My research focused on cerebrovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, including CADASIL, cerebral amyloid angiopathy, and white matter disease. Through this experience, I developed skills in clinical and neuroimaging research, data analysis, and the application of artificial intelligence to medical research. More importantly, it taught me to approach complex clinical questions with curiosity, critically evaluate evidence, and appreciate how research can translate into better patient care.
Outside of medicine and research, I enjoy traveling and exploring new places, spending time with friends, watching movies, and staying active through pickleball. I also enjoy playing chess and experimenting in the kitchen, although some of my more ambitious recipes have taught me that confidence and culinary skill are not always the same thing. These interests have given me a welcome balance outside of medicine and have helped me appreciate the importance of staying curious, connected, and grounded.
I am excited about the experiences, challenges, and friendships that residency will bring. I look forward to learning from my patients and colleagues, embracing new challenges, and continuing to grow both personally and professionally. Most of all, I hope to approach residency with the same curiosity, compassion, and enthusiasm that have shaped my journey in medicine so far.
